Well, bless my soul, if it ain’t ol’ Silver (XAG/USD) takin’ a header like a drunk man off a steamboat! Trades near $69, you say? After kissin’ $60 on March 23rd? Why, that’s a 2026 low, if I ever saw one. Them BeInCrypto fellers with their head-and-shoulders mumbo jumbo called it, and sure enough, it played out like a riverboat gambler losin’ his shirt.
Now, the question ain’t whether the correction happened-it did, faster than a catfish on a hook. The real question is, are we at the bottom, or is this just a pit stop before Silver takes another dive? Might as well ask if a politician’s promise is worth the paper it’s printed on.
Two COT Reports: The Tale of the Tape, or Just More Hot Air?
This here correction didn’t spring up like a jackrabbit in a briar patch. No sir, the CFTC’s Commitments of Traders (COT) report on March 10th already had the bigwigs trimmin’ their sails. Non-commercial longs fell by 920 contracts, and shorts dropped by 2,160. Still long, mind you, but the wind had shifted. Open interest rose like a preacher’s voice on Sunday, showin’ new shorts comin’ in while the longs were headin’ for the hills.

By March 17th, the ship was really takin’ on water. Non-commercial longs dropped another 2,181 contracts, and shorts rose like a politician’s promises. Open interest fell, confirm’n the sellin’ was more about cuttin’ losses than makin’ a stand. Silver fell from $85 to $69, an 18% drop in just over a week. That’s faster than a liar’s apology.
The next COT report’s due March 27th, with data from today. If managed money longs tick higher, that’d be the first sign the floor’s holdin’. Historically, when managed money gets this bearish, it’s like a storm passin’-the sun’s bound to come out.
SLV Options: Fear and Greed, or Just Plain Confusion?
Now, let’s talk about the iShares Silver Trust (SLV) ETF put-call ratio. On March 17th, when SLV closed at $71.66, the volume ratio was 0.69 and open interest at 0.65. By March 23rd, after Silver hit $62.47, the volume ratio rose to 0.71, but open interest dropped to 0.62. More puts tradin’, but fewer new ones openin’. Sounds like folks are closin’ their bets, now that the damage is done.
The hedges built before the fall are bein’ unwound, like a bad hand at poker. This divergence suggests the bears might’ve had their day. But whether Silver can climb back up depends on more than just these numbers.
Gold-Silver Ratio and DXY: The Real Bosses of the Show
The gold-silver ratio peaked at 72.81 in February, but it’s down to 63.37 now. Silver’s gainin’ on gold, like a turtle in a race with a hare. If it drops below 62.84, that’s a bullish sign, plain and simple.
But the Dollar Index (DXY) is the real kingpin. Sittin’ at 99.26, lookin’ like a bull flag on the chart. If it breaks past 100, Silver’s in for more trouble, no matter what the COT or options say. For Silver to recover, DXY needs to drop below 98.48, maybe even 97.30. And that depends on things bigger than Silver-like oil prices and Iran’s shenanigans.
Silver’s Last Stand: Fibonacci to the Rescue?
On the 12-hour chart, there’s a hidden bullish divergence. The low near $60 is where Silver found support back in December, but the RSI is lower this time. That suggests the sellin’s losin’ steam, even as the price tests the floor.
And that $60 low? It’s right at the 0.618 Fibonacci extension-the strongest support level in the book. If $60 holds, Silver could climb to $74, $82, or even $96. But if it breaks, the next stop’s $51, a 26% drop. That’s enough to make a man think twice.
So, is Silver’s bottom in? Depends on three things: the 0.618 Fibonacci floor holdin’, managed money longs comin’ back, and DXY droppin’ below 98.48. If all three align, Silver might just have a chance. Otherwise, it’s like tryin’ to catch a falling knife-painful and foolhardy.
