Silent Hill Townfall announced & it’s coming just a year after Silent Hill f

Fans of the Silent Hill series have reason to be excited – a new game, called Townfall, is being released sooner than many expected. Here’s a breakdown of everything we know about it.

The Silent Hill series was quiet for a while, but it’s become very active recently. Following the successful release of Silent Hill f, which takes place in Japan, another new Silent Hill game is on its way.

The next Silent Hill game, Silent Hill Townfall, is being developed in Europe and is already making good progress. We have details about the game’s location, how the gameplay is changing, and a possible release timeframe.

So here’s the full overview of everything there is to know about Silent Hill Townfall.

Is there a release date?

Although a specific release date hasn’t been announced, Silent Hill Townfall is currently planned to come out in 2026.

The game has been in development since 2022 and is now quite advanced. We anticipate it will likely be released towards the end of the year, though that depends on whether its developers want to compete with the release of GTA 6.

What platforms will it be on?

The new Silent Hill game, Townfall, will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC. You’ll be able to download and play it on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Currently, it’s unknown if the game will be available on other consoles like the Xbox Series X|S or the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

Silent Hill Townfall setting & story details

The latest installment in the Townfall horror series moves the action to Scotland, bringing with it a fresh wave of scares. Set in 1996, the game reflects the technology of the time – instead of a smartphone, the main character, Simon Ordell, uses a special CRTV device to track down monsters lurking in the misty town.

Something feels off on the island of St. Amelia. A dense fog has settled over the town, and an eerie silence hangs in the air. We need to explore the winding streets and shadowy alleys to figure out what happened and what the future holds.

Similar to Silent Hill: f, this game is a spin-off that experiments with how the Silent Hill formula can work in new settings and with different stories. It isn’t meant to be heavily connected to the main Silent Hill games.

Silent Hill Townfall gameplay

Townfall stands out from other Silent Hill games because it’s played from a first-person viewpoint. This puts you directly in the action, facing monsters more intensely and experiencing the foggy world through Simon’s eyes instead of watching him from afar.

Like the previous Silent Hill game, fighting up close is still a big part of the experience. But this time, escaping or simply avoiding fights is just as important.

With the CRTV device, Simon can see through the fog, spot enemies, and make plans. It also helps him discover hidden secrets on the Scottish island.

If you attract too much attention, enemies will actively pursue you, using their senses to locate you, explained writer and director Jon McKellan.

You’ll also encounter puzzles that test your observation skills and offer rewards as you progress through this frightening adventure.

We saw our first real gameplay of Silent Hill Townfall during the February 12, 2026 State of Play presentation. Afterwards, a new Silent Hill Transmission livestream provided even more details about the game.
