The positive reception to Silent Hill f has led the development team to consider locations worldwide for future installments, according to producer Motoi Okamoto.
I was so excited to hear in a recent interview with Inverse that the team behind the new Silent Hill f is already thinking about where future games could be set! Apparently, they’ve been doing some research, and it sounds like they’re considering some really interesting places – South Korea, parts of Central and South America, Russia, and even Italy. It’s awesome to know they’re building on the success of f and thinking about expanding the Silent Hill world in new directions!
Okamoto noted that Silent Hill f represented a significant change for the series. The team demonstrated that the core psychological horror of Silent Hill could be effectively conveyed even with a new setting – 1960s Japan – proving it wasn’t limited to the previously established American locations.
Seeing how well the game did has really got the developers thinking about all the cool ways they can take future games. It’s exciting to think about where they’ll go next!
New Silent Hill games could feature global locations
Okamoto suggested exploring traditional, shamanistic beliefs in Central and South America to see if they offer relevant insights.
We should also consider exploring new regions like Russia, Italy, or South Korea. Each of these places has distinct belief systems that could broaden our understanding and help us develop our ideas even further.

Okamoto explained that when choosing a new location, it wasn’t just about finding a different place – it needed to be a place with a strong connection to the local culture, traditions, and history.
The developers of the Silent Hill series are looking for locations with local stories and societal fears that fit the games’ unsettling and psychologically frightening atmosphere. Their goal is to create each new game with a unique feel, while still capturing the familiar sense of dread and despair that defines classic Silent Hill.
Okay, so everyone’s hyped for the Silent Hill remake and Townfall, but I’m really hoping the next games take us to some totally new locations around the world. It would be awesome to explore different cultures and unravel some spooky mysteries outside of the usual setting, you know?
