Silent Hill F Shrine Vault Puzzle Guide

The latest installment in the Silent Hill series, Silent Hill f, is here. Though set in 1960s Japan and visually distinct from past games, it delivers the challenging puzzles fans expect from a Silent Hill experience. One of the first puzzles players will encounter, the Shrine Vault puzzle, appears when they initially enter the spirit world.

This solution is for the standard “Hard” puzzle, which is the most common difficulty level.

Shrine Vault Puzzle

To solve this puzzle, you need to find three symbols hidden in different locations. You’ll find these after getting the ceremonial knife and following the man with the Fox mask into a new, locked area. The map shows where to look, but each location has only one specific Ema to find. Once you take a symbol from an area, you can’t go back there again. It’s up to you to figure out which Ema belongs in each spot.

We’re not sure if the Ema in each location stays in the same spot, but there’s only one Ema per area. If you check a board and don’t find it, simply move on to the next one.

The solution to the combination lock is provided earlier. You’re looking for three things named Lightning, Decayed Tree, and Kudzu. Kudzu is a pink flower with big, green leaves, and you can find pictures of all three below.

You don’t need to manually record the Ema symbols – they’ll be added to your journal as you discover them. Once you’ve found all three, go back to the combination lock and enter the symbols in the order shown in your journal, starting from the top.
