Silent Hill f actors become tourism ambassadors for IRL town

The actors portraying Hinako’s parents in the Silent Hill f game have been appointed as official tourism ambassadors for the Japanese town that served as inspiration for the game’s setting.

Takeshi Masago and Tamami Hiraoka, the actors who play Hinako Shimizu’s parents in Silent Hill f, recently gained attention for streaming themselves playing the survival horror game. This happened back in December after a video of their playthrough went viral.

I’ve been following all the hype around the game, especially after Konatsu Kato, the actress who plays Hinako, finished her first playthrough. It was awesome seeing her jump back into the game’s scary world after being part of creating it in the first place – she really got what the fans were excited about!

Okay, so this is pretty cool! Apparently, the parents from the game – you know, Hinako’s folks – are now official tourism ambassadors for the real-life town that Ebisugaoka (from the game) is based on. It’s like they’re bringing the game to life and promoting the actual place! I saw it on IGN – it’s a neat way to connect the fans with the inspiration behind the game’s setting.

Hinako’s parents now represent town that inspired game

Silent Hill f takes place in 1960s Japan, in the made-up town of Ebisugaoka. The story follows Hinako, a high school student, as she confronts a mysterious fog, terrifying creatures, and attempts to learn about her history.

The developers of the game based the town of Ebisugaoka on Kanayama in Gero City, Gifu Prefecture, taking inspiration from its unique atmosphere and tightly-packed streets.

We were so happy to welcome Gota Mashiba, who voiced Hideo Amakawa (雛子’s father) in SILENT HILL f, to Okuhida Sake Brewery! ✨ He was incredibly friendly and we enjoyed chatting with him. Thank you for visiting even in the cold weather! #silenthill #silenthillf

Ever since the game came out, fans have been flocking to the actual place that inspired it, and they’ve been sharing pictures and pointing out how much it looks like the in-game town of Silent Hill f online.

Hinako’s father also went to Okuhida Shuzo, a sake brewery in the town that inspired the Ebisugaoka area in the game. This brewery previously created a limited-edition sake and chocolate set themed after Silent Hill.

The appointment of Hinako’s parents as tourism ambassadors highlights the region’s increasing use of the Silent Hill f franchise to draw visitors. They’re hoping fans of the survival horror game will be drawn to the real-life locations that served as inspiration for its eerie setting.
