Silent Hill 2 Remake Quietly Confirmed For Xbox Series X|S

Owners of Xbox Series X|S consoles didn’t get the Silent Hill 2 remake when it was released in 2024, as it was initially a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Though rumors suggested an Xbox version would follow within a year, no announcement came. Now, the game has appeared on an Xbox store in another region, strongly suggesting it’s coming to more countries soon.

Right now, you can get Silent Hill 2 for 50% off in the Australian Xbox store. While Konami hasn’t officially announced a US release for Xbox Series X|S, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has confirmed the game is rated M for Mature and approved for those consoles.

The ESRB listing doesn’t suggest a Switch 2 version of the game is planned. It’s also currently unclear whether a physical copy of Silent Hill 2 will be available for Xbox, or if it will only be sold digitally.

We know the Silent Hill 2 remake isn’t a one-off; Bloober Team is currently developing a remake of the very first Silent Hill game. Konami revealed this project initially, but hasn’t provided any details since.

Christoph Gans, who directed the first Silent Hill movie, is adapting the story of Silent Hill 2 for a new live-action film called Return to Silent Hill, scheduled for release on January 23, 2026. In other news, characters from Silent Hill – Pyramid Head and Cheryl Mason – have joined the multiplayer game Dead by Daylight, alongside Dracula and Trevor Belmont from the Castlevania series.

The newest Silent Hill game, Silent Hill F, has been updated with an easier difficulty setting and the ability to skip sections when starting a new game after completing one.
