Silent Hill 2 Remake on PS5 Pro Scares with Graphics Bugs. Fans Wait for Update, and Konami Remains Silent

As a seasoned gamer with a library spanning three decades, I find myself both baffled and frustrated by the current state of affairs regarding the Silent Hill 2 Remake on PS5 Pro. Having experienced the original Silent Hill 2 on various consoles over the years, I hold this game close to my heart. To see it run suboptimally on what should be its pinnacle platform is truly disheartening.

A week has passed since the launch of the PS5 Pro, and some games are yet to receive an appropriate update. Among these, the Silent Hill 2 Remake is one that stands out, and surprisingly, it runs smoother on the original or Slim version of the PS5 rather than the new, more potent edition. Growing frustration is being voiced by fans.

Silent Hill 2 Remake looks the worst on PS5 Pro

On the brand’s X account, multiple posts discuss Silent Hill, and fans are discussing the rumored PS5 Pro update. Some fans have expressed concern that the game’s listing on the PlayStation Store suggests “PS5 Pro Enhanced,” but there has been no patch released for the Silent Hill 2 Remake yet. A screenshot of fan comments questioning the update for the PS5 Pro was shared on the r/silenthill subreddit.

The predicament remains unresolved as neither Bloober Team nor Konami has acknowledged fan requests regarding a patch, leaving the release date uncertain. Players are anxiously looking forward to this update due to graphical issues that arise when playing in performance mode. It seems that the game needs to be optimized with the PSSR for the Silent Hill 2 Remake, although it hasn’t been adapted for it yet.

During gameplay, you might notice that images seem to flash on various surfaces – for instance, in the initial setting like a parking lot, it gives off an illusion of rainfall. The shadows are also somewhat unsteady, but the flashing is the most annoying aspect. Critics have noted that this issue becomes increasingly aggravating as the game progresses.

Regrettably, the silence from the developer and publisher is severely testing the patience of gamers, as there’s no word about when a patch might be released or downloaded. Some enthusiasts find this situation intolerable, given that the game functions poorly even on the top-tier PS5 version.
