In Deadly Quiet, the mysterious creatures inhabiting Transylvania’s Hoia Baciu forest are unlike any traditional monsters like Count Dracula or werewolves one might associate with Transylvania. The game’s debut trailer introduces these beings, which possess humanoid bodies and animal-like features such as antlers. They are also seen carrying around several human skulls, hinting at the potential outcomes for player characters should they fail to escape their grasp.
In Deadly Quiet, although the game is played from a first-person perspective, players don’t see through their characters’ eyes. Instead, the action is viewed via a bodycam, which contributes to the intentionally grainy visuals. This method has benefits such as being able to discern the silhouettes of other players in co-op mode, even in complete darkness. However, the camera’s resolution isn’t as sharp as human vision, and there’s a risk that the creatures can approach undetected in the dark if you’re not vigilant.
Similar to last year’s “A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead”, in “Deadly Quiet”, silence is vital as sound works against you. These mysterious beings possess extraordinary hearing abilities; a single snap of a twig could alert them to your presence. Communicating with teammates via microphones can also put you at risk, revealing your location.
The creator of Galactic Crows, known for Deadly Quiet, has disclosed some information about the game’s narrative. In this game, players will take charge of a band of companions unfortunate enough to have chosen the Hoia Baciu forest as their camping site. Due to an unlucky turn of events, their vehicle meets with disaster in the forest, leaving them no choice but to navigate a dangerous journey towards a nearby town. To evade the inhabitants’ fearsome creatures, they must tread almost silently throughout their perilous journey.
