Sigma Star Saga DX launches for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Steam in 2026

WayForward revealed that Sigma Star Saga DX is coming to PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam) in 2026. They made the announcement during Limited Run Games’ LRG3 2025 presentation, where they also shared news about a new Shantae game – the seventh main installment in the series.

Sigma Star Saga first came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2005. This new ‘DX’ version of the game, which combines shooting action with RPG elements, features several improvements, including a better map, fewer random battles, a more balanced experience system, polished conversations, extra save spots, and various bug fixes and enhancements to make the game more enjoyable.

WayForward has released a new trailer and shared more details, which you can find below. Details about how to pre-order physical copies will be announced soon.

A brand new trailer has been released for Sigma Star Saga DX! This updated version of the popular shoot-’em-up/RPG, originally a Game Boy Advance title from 2005, is coming to modern consoles and PC thanks to Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine and the porting expertise of Mighty Rabbit Studios. The trailer highlights the game’s blend of overhead exploration and fast-paced, side-scrolling space combat, showcasing the many tools and over 20,000 weapon combinations players can use while infiltrating the Krill Empire. It also offers a first look at one of the selectable HD border designs and a preview of the game’s new theme song.

As a long-time fan, I’m so excited about Sigma Star Saga DX! It’s not just a straight port of the original; the developers have really listened to the community. They’ve improved the map, made random battles happen less often, tweaked how you level up to be fairer, and even polished the dialogue. Plus, they’ve added more save points and fixed a bunch of bugs – everything the GBA version had, and more! The best news? It’s coming to Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam in early 2026, and they’re planning to open up preorders for physical copies on Switch and PS5 around the same time. I can’t wait!
