Popular Twitch streamer Mike ‘Shroud’ Grzesiek says he won’t be playing the game Hytale for at least two years, believing it won’t be enjoyable until then.
Hytale was originally revealed in 2015. The team behind the well-known Minecraft server, Hypixel, decided they wanted to create their own game.
After a rocky development, including being canceled and facing numerous delays, the game finally launched in Early Access on January 14, 2026. It quickly became a popular hit, gaining a large audience on Twitch.
Many streamers who play a variety of games have started trying out the highly anticipated new release. However, Shroud plans to wait a bit before he starts playing it himself.
Shroud will wait to play Hytale
A former professional Counter-Strike player, who’s been focusing on ARC Raiders recently, was asked by a fan if he planned to play Hytale in the future.
“Are you going to play Hytale? F*ck no,” he quickly replied.
It’ll probably be ready in about two years. The game has a good starting point, but it’s nowhere near finished and isn’t playable yet.

Hytale is currently available in early access, so it’s normal to experience some issues and bugs. Some players have already reported crashes while playing.
The game developers are offering rewards totaling over $25,000 to anyone who finds and reports significant flaws or security vulnerabilities in the game.
We offer bug bounties worth over $25,000, depending on how serious the issue is, and will reward findings related to authentication and client/server vulnerabilities. We anticipate some challenges as the program launches, but are committed to working through them.
We’ve only had two months to get Hytale back on track after reacquiring it – that’s how much work has gone into both the game itself and rebuilding the team.
