Popular first-person shooter streamer shroud doesn’t plan to switch to a Twitch alternative like Asmongold and has criticized content creators who publicly complain about Twitch.
While playing the game Megabonk on October 6th, Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek discussed his financial success with his audience, which led viewers to jokingly ask him to stop running advertisements.
“I can’t help with that,” Shroud said, frustrated. “It’s outside of what I’m authorized to do, and I simply don’t have the power to make it happen.”
Becoming a Twitch Partner means sharing some of the money earned from ads with Twitch. While many streamers eventually start earning money, some have taken a different approach. For example, Asmongold’s second channel, ‘zackrawrr,’ became so popular that Twitch actually lost money by *not* running ads on it, eventually leading him to become a Partner.
He joked that he could start streaming on a different platform or an unpartnered Twitch channel just to get a reaction from Twitch, calling the idea funny but also a bit extreme. Ultimately, he decided against it, saying he wouldn’t risk it.
According to shroud, he simply values Twitch too much to cause any issues.
Shroud calls out Twitch streamers who “hate” the platform
Grzesiek criticized streamers who complain about Twitch, pointing out that the platform is providing them with income. He noted they were essentially acting against their own interests, referencing the saying ‘don’t bite the hand that feeds you’ – although he misstated the original expression.
These streamers rely on Twitch for their income, and some people seem determined to see it fail. While it’s okay to offer criticism, wanting the platform to collapse when so many people earn a living through it is really extreme.
The ex-CS:GO player then explored other platforms, explaining that YouTube doesn’t provide content creators with as much income.
Shroud’s thoughts on TWITCH STREAMERS who hate on Twitch
— Shroud Updates (@ShroudUpdate) October 6, 2025
Honestly, the thought of everyone just streaming on Kick? If we’re *all* going down the rabbit hole of gambling streams, then what the heck, I’m in too! It’s like, if everyone’s doing it, why not? I’d join the fun.
While Shroud doesn’t seem interested in starting a new Twitch channel to avoid ads, some streamers are going to great lengths to prevent commercials from interrupting their broadcasts.
CaseOh sometimes interrupted gameplay when viewers who hadn’t subscribed got stuck on advertisements, and even challenged upset subscribers to cancel their subscriptions if the ads bothered them so much.
