Cosmo Jarvis, the lead actor from the popular historical drama series “Shogun” on FX, has been cast in director Guy Ritchie’s upcoming movie titled “Wife & Dog.
A British actor is set to join an impressive roster of stars who have already been confirmed for the upcoming film, initially unveiled by EbMaster last year. This project will once again bring Ritchie back to the vibrant, treacherous setting of the upper-class British society (further expanding on a theme he recently delved into with “The Gentleman” movie and TV series). Initially reported as the main cast members are Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike, and Anthony Hopkins. Though specifics about the plot are still kept secret, it’s known that Jarvis will portray Hopkins’ son and Pike’s sibling in this production.
The “Wife & Dog” screenplay was penned by Ritchie, who also acts as producer alongside his long-time partner in production, Ivan Atkinson, known for works like “The Gentlemen” and “Wrath of Man”. Additionally, John Friedberg from Black Bear Pictures is involved in the production (he has worked on films such as “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” and “Ferrari”). The executive producers are Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler from Black Bear.
Following his breakout performances alongside Florence Pugh and Naomi Ackie in the 2016 independent film “Lady Macbeth”, Jarvis gained recognition for his portrayal of a criminal enforcer in the Irish gangster thriller “Calm With Horses”. He later shared screen time with Dakota Johnson in Netflix’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s “Persuasion”. In “Shōgun”, Jarvis starred as John Blackthorne, a shipwrecked English sailor, which significantly contributed to the limited series winning a record 18 Emmy Awards and four Golden Globes.
As a movie enthusiast, I’m excited to share some upcoming roles for Jarvis. First off, he’ll be starring in Barry Levinson’s crime gangster drama “The Alto Knights,” which features the legendary Robert De Niro. Next up is “Warfare,” an Iraq War thriller from Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland under A24’s banner. Lastly, he’ll appear in the Australian prison drama “Inside.” These projects are sure to showcase his talent and range as an actor!
Jarvis is represented by a variety of talent agencies including United Talent Agency (UTA), The Artists Partnership, Yorn Levine Entertainment, Barnes & Krintzman Management, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), Kohner Agency, Endlich & Goodell Management, and Telescope Agency.
