Actors Sheryl Lee Ralph, Holly Robinson Peete, and LeVar Burton have signed on to provide voices for Al Roker’s forthcoming animated series “Weather Hunters,” a PBS Kids program that aims to educate children about Earth science and meteorology by incorporating adventure and humor into its storyline.
In this series, Emmy-winning meteorologist Al Roker lends his voice to a character, reminiscent of a well-known weathercaster from a long-running national television program. Additionally, Tandi Fomukong and Lorenzo Ross will also provide voices for characters in the show. Notably, Yvette Nicole Brown contributes the theme song for this production.
The show “Weather Hunters” is set to debut on PBS Kids on July 7, offering versions in both English and Spanish. As someone who has long been captivated by weather phenomena, Roker expressed in a statement that one of the most rewarding aspects of this project has been igniting curiosity about weather among young minds. He’s excited to pass on his passion for weather to a new generation, including his granddaughter, Sky, who continually motivates him to protect our planet for future generations.
The television series titled ‘Weather Hunters’ is developed by Al Roker Entertainment and Silver Creek Falls Entertainment, Inc., led by Dete Meserve. In addition to Meserve, Carin Greenberg, John Semper Jr., and Lisa Tucker serve as executive producers for the show. The main theme song is sung by actress Yvette Nicole Brown.
Moreover, it’s been announced that PBS Kids will debut a brand new animated series called “Phoebe & Jay” come fall 2025. This exciting project is the brainchild of Genie Deez and Thy Than. The story revolves around Phoebe and Jay Yarber, 6-year-old fraternal twins who inhabit the magical Tobsy Towers with their family. The series aims to foster early reading abilities in preschoolers.
