As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of Counter-Strike under my belt, I can confidently say that the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 is the pièce de résistance of CS2 esports events this year. With a prize pool of $1.25 million and the honor of being the second-ever CS2 Major Championship on the line, every matchup counts!
On November 30, 2024, the inaugural day of the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 for Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) will commence in China at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. This much-anticipated esports spectacle marks the climax of the annual calendar, and every CS2 enthusiast should be thrilled about its beginning.
As a dedicated CS2 fan, I can’t help but feel a surge of pride and anticipation as we approach the second CS2 Major Championship. The honor to protect and the glory to seize are at stake, not to mention the substantial $1.25 million prize pool! Only the top eight teams from the Opening Stage will have the privilege of joining the eight teams who’ve already secured their spots in the Elimination Stage.
In the first phase of competition, eight teams were knocked out, making every game crucial. After some confusion regarding team placements following the Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournaments, Valve has revised its worldwide rankings. Consequently, we now know the initial matchups, as announced by Perfect World on X.
Based on the most recent Valve Regional Rankings, the 24 qualifying teams for the Shanghai Major will be placed into matches during both the Opening and Elimination rounds. From November 30th to December 15th, these teams will battle it out in a bid to achieve the supreme honor of being crowned the champions of the Shanghai Major tournament.
