A team of movie industry leaders are finding it challenging to promote a satirical zombie story featuring explosive diarrhea, as shown in a recent sneak peek for Seth Rogen’s forthcoming Apple TV+ sitcom titled “The Production Company.
The film, named “Duhpocalypse,” produced by Continental Studios, initiates the scene. A news broadcaster alerts about the city being in turmoil, urging citizens to stay indoors for safety. In the midst of this, Johnny Knoxville and Josh Hutcherson are depicted engaging in a struggle with a zombie. Knoxville exclaims, “Look out! He’s lowering his pants,” as the zombie reveals he’s defecating all over Hutcherson.
Hutcherson exclaims, ‘I’ve been tricked! Am I going to perish?’ To which Knoxville replies, ‘We all must eventually pass away, my friend, and you’re doing so prematurely,’ as he lifts a sword against him.
Switching scenes, I find myself in a boardroom, where Kathryn Hahn breaks the news that cinemas are turning down our trailer due to its, well, let’s say ‘uncomfortable’ content involving diarrhea. Chase Sui Wonders and Ike Barinholtz express their concerns about the scene’s relevance, fearing it might overshadow our movie’s message. But Knoxville steps in with a calming voice, reminding us that we’ve crafted a dark satire about medical misinformation, and he doesn’t want our comedic intent to get lost in the mix.
As the head of the studio, Matt Remick, portrayed by Rogen, asserts with a definitive tone: “Yes, it’s accurate, but I most certainly prefer to include that dramatic ‘diarrhea explosion’ in our trailer.
The original series titled “The Studio” will debut on March 26th. It was jointly developed by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez. Executive producers are Rogen, Goldberg, James Weaver, Alex McAtee, and Josh Fagen (on behalf of Point Grey Pictures). Lionsgate Television is the production company behind it.
