I’m incredibly excited about both Cole Escola’s upcoming Miss Piggy movie, with Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone producing, and Seth Rogen’s new Muppet Show special. But honestly, the Muppet Show revival has me even more thrilled. It was already one of my most anticipated shows for 2026, and the first teaser Disney+ released has definitely confirmed it as my top pick – maybe that’s a little childish, but I can’t help it!
Okay, I’m so excited! Did you catch that little nod to a super popular song? It’s totally about Sabrina Carpenter being the big guest star on the new Muppet Show special! She’s not in the promo video yet, but I’m really hoping a small detail I spotted hints at what she’ll be doing when she arrives. Watch the video with me and let’s guess what’s going on – I’m already imagining all sorts of fun possibilities!
This short preview for the upcoming special is a little underwhelming, considering it’s only a few weeks away. Still, I’m happy to get a glimpse of the Muppets in action! We see Kermit quickly getting the Muppet Theatre prepped and ready for a great show – and I don’t mean Statler and Waldorf, who are always hoping the show will end. [Waiting for their usual heckling from the balcony.]
Here’s the official synopsis for the streaming release, which will be available on February 4 via Disney+ subscription:
Get ready for The Muppet Show! Kermit, Miss Piggy, and all your favorite Muppets are returning in a brand-new special. Expect plenty of music, laughs, and silly fun as the Muppets take over the Muppet Theatre with special guest star Sabrina Carpenter!
If this show follows the usual pattern, viewers can expect Kristen Bell to share some funny moments with the Muppets – like Miss Piggy, Fozzie, and Gonzo – before performing one or more songs. And speaking of songs…

Will Sabrina Carpenter Perform With Dr. Teeth And The Electric Mayhem?
The backstage area of the Muppet Theatre looks a lot like it did in the original series, which aired from 1974 to 1981, but it’s been updated with some new details. For example, there’s a poster on the stairwell wall promoting a concert by Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, and another featuring The Great Gonzo – likely a promotional event rather than a musical performance.
Many fans will recall that Dr. Teeth and his Electric Mayhem band were featured in Disney+’s recent series, Muppets Mayhem. Though that show was canceled after only one season, this new Muppet Show special seems like a great way to bring the band—one of the most beloved in pop culture—back to the forefront, alongside a major pop music star.
Whether Mary Chapin Carpenter would perform her own songs or collaborate with the Muppets seems to be the key. If she sings her own hits, the Muppets’ band – Zoot, Lips, Animal, Janice, Floyd, and Dr. Teeth – might not need to be involved. But if she joins the Muppets to perform their songs, that would be a fantastic way to combine their musical talents. Let’s make that happen!
Considering her now family-friendly image with Disney – she used to be on Girl Meets World – it’s unlikely she’ll repeat the playful, revealing performance she did on SNL last October. Still, I’m confident she’ll deliver an amazing show. Let’s just hope everything stays intact – they just reopened the theatre! Perhaps Sweetums could lend a hand and help support the roof.
Seth Rogen‘s The Muppet Show special is set to stream on Disney+ on February 4, 2026.
