The follow-up to the acclaimed 2019 movie Joker, titled Joker: Folie à Deux, will stream on Prime Video in December 2025. While it didn’t receive the same level of praise or box office success as the original, the sequel sparked a lot of conversation when it was released and will now be accessible to more viewers.

The highly anticipated sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux, featuring Joaquin Phoenix returning as the Joker alongside Lady Gaga, will be available to stream on Prime Video starting December 16, 2025. This adds another major title to Prime Video’s growing collection of content.
I was really looking forward to Todd Phillips’ new movie when it came out on October 4, 2025, but honestly, it didn’t live up to the hype. It cost almost $200 million to make, but it only brought in about $207.5 million worldwide – a pretty big flop at the box office. The critics didn’t love it either, and it ended up with seven Golden Raspberry Award nominations, actually winning two. A bit disappointing, to say the least.
Honestly, all the bad press really hurt the movie’s run in theaters, and a lot of people just waited to watch it when it hit Max on December 13th. But now, if you don’t have HBO Max, you’re in luck! You can finally see the sequel on Prime Video too, which is great news for fans like me.
Joker: Folie à Deux tried a new approach for superhero films by combining its well-known DC characters with the style of a musical.
The movie follows Arthur Fleck, a troubled comedian battling with his inner demons. While in Arkham State Hospital awaiting trial for a crime he committed, he finds both love and a hidden musical talent.
Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Zazie Beetz, Steve Coogan, Harry Lawtey, and Leigh Gill are also part of the movie’s cast.
In addition to the upcoming film Joker: Folie à Deux, Prime Video will be adding several other popular movies in December, such as Gareth Edwards’ The Creator, Michael Bay’s Transformers: The Last Knight, and Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme.
