Send Help is a darkly funny horror movie starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien, stranded together on a desert island. The way their story ends is incredibly satisfying.
Sam Raimi, best known for the terrifying ‘Evil Dead’ films, returns to horror with ‘Send Help’ – his first horror movie in over a decade, following 2009’s ‘Drag Me to Hell’.
The game was well worth waiting for, earning a four-star review from us and being described as hilarious from start to finish.
The movie’s ending is incredibly satisfying because it cleverly pays off a plot point established earlier by the writers, Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Be warned – we’re about to reveal spoilers as we explain why it works so well…
Why that death is the ideal ending for Send Help

In the movie Send Help, Rachel McAdams stars as Linda Liddle, a struggling office employee, and Dylan O’Brien plays her harsh boss, Bradley Preston.
The movie begins with him denying Linda a promotion she was expecting, and then unexpectedly bringing her to Bangkok to assist with a crucial business deal.
Unfortunately, their plane goes down, leaving them stranded on what appears to be a deserted island. This changes everything, as Linda’s knowledge of survival now makes her the stronger one.
Although he clearly enjoys intimidating others, as the story unfolds, we learn that Linda also has a hidden, troubling past.
Bradley is determined to escape the island, but it becomes clear that Linda actually wants to stay. She demonstrates this by hiding when a rescue boat appears, and shockingly, by killing Bradley’s fiancée when she arrives.

With their relationship increasingly strained, temporary agreements quickly fall apart. Things escalate violently in “Send Help” when Bradley finds out about the murder and learns Linda has been hiding a house full of supplies on the island, deliberately trying to make their situation last longer.
Arguments at the house escalate into a deadly fight, culminating in Linda fatally striking Bradley with a golf club.
It’s just so frustrating! Linda didn’t get the promotion, and the guy who did get it? One of Bradley’s golf friends! And to add insult to injury, Bradley actually told her she wouldn’t get it because she doesn’t even play golf. Seriously? It feels like the biggest unfairness ever.
As a dark comedy, ‘Send Help’ creates a jarring transition at its peak, cutting from a scene of Linda hitting Billy to her calmly hitting a golf ball during a tournament.
In an interview, we find out Linda has truly fallen in love with the sport and has unexpectedly become famous. She’s even written a book about her time on the island, which is now being made into a movie! This gives Linda Liddle a satisfying, though surprisingly complex, happy ending – a fitting conclusion to the series, Send Help.
