As a longtime viewer of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, I’ve noticed the women have been trying to recapture that original sense of sisterhood they had before the show got so popular – and, let’s be honest, a little messy. It’s still there, but you really have to sift through all the drama, gossip, and online squabbles to find it. After the Season 3 reunion aired – it’s already 2025, can you believe it? – Demi Engemann is now talking about how she felt like the show portrayed her as the ‘villain’. So, everyone’s wondering where she stands as they head into Season 4.
“Accountability” is a word that gets thrown around a lot on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, but it seems Demi Engemann is only willing to shoulder some of the blame for what we saw on the show (streaming with a Hulu subscription), particularly regarding some of the heated confrontations she got into with Jessi Ngatikaura and the other MomTok influencers at business events. Demi told ET:
If everyone was constantly filmed, you’d see unflattering moments from all of us. We all have times we’re not proud of and would want to erase. I definitely have moments I regret, and I’ve been inconsistent at times. But it’s important to remember I’m a real person, not a character playing a role. I show up as myself, and how that footage is ultimately presented isn’t my decision.
Demi Engemann believes the show’s editors deliberately portrayed her as a villain by excluding footage of her more gentle and empathetic side. She also points to her limited appearances in Season 3, stemming from disagreements over her contract, as a factor. Demi claims there was a significant amount of footage that never made it to air, showing a different side of her personality.
Look, let’s be real. People seem fixated on those rare moments where I might say something sharp at an event, but that’s just a tiny slice of the picture. I absolutely behave politely and kindly when I’m around others, both on and off set. The cameras only catch a few seconds here and there, and honestly, it doesn’t represent my overall personality or how I usually react to things. It’s just not the full story.
Even though she’d skipped the last one, Demi Engemann showed up for the Season 3 reunion of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Things got heated, and she ended up in a major argument with Jen Affleck and her husband, Zac. The accusations that Jessi made about drinking pee weren’t discussed, probably because the reunion was filmed before those came out.
I’m really curious about where Demi’s story is headed! With a fourth season coming in 2026, she’s shared what’s been going on with her, and honestly…
I’m seriously considering what my next step should be, especially if I can be my authentic self. I want to prioritize my family and the strong relationships I have. This isn’t an easy decision, and I’m carefully considering all my options, including the possibility of stepping away.
It’s hard to keep track of which of our ‘MomTok’ stars – like Jen Affleck, Whitney Leavitt, Miranda McWhorter, and even future Bachelorette Taylor Frankie Paul – are stepping back from filming. We’ll just have to take things as they come.
