Scrubs Stars Zach Braff & Donald Faison Tease Season 10

The beloved comedy is making a comeback after many years! The show ended in 2010 after nine seasons, and now the original stars – including Zach Braff and Donald Faison, who played J.D. and Turk – will be reprising their roles.

When the new season was first announced in December 2024, some fans expressed concerns, but Zach Braff and Donald Faison have reassured them that it’s going to be good. In an interview with People, they said the new season is just as strong as the original Scrubs.

The TV show Scrubs originally aired in 2001 and followed the humorous lives of doctors, nurses, and a janitor at Sacred Heart Hospital. When asked about a potential reboot and how it might be received by new viewers, Zach Braff said he believes the show is in capable hands with a new team of writers.

Braff mentioned the writing team includes both newer writers and some of the talented people who originally worked on Scrubs. He believes this diverse and energetic group will be key to solving the creative challenges they’re facing.

Faison believes the show’s central story remains compelling. Even with all the changes over nine seasons, viewers are still invested in following the doctors they admire and root for, and that’s what keeps them watching.

Scrubs Creator: The Reboot Won’t be a ‘Cash Grab’

Bill Lawrence, the creator of Scrubs, understood some fans were hesitant about a reboot, especially since the original series ended 15 years ago. He responded to a fan who worried the reboot could ruin the legacy of the show, saying, “What’s the downside? Not many people have work right now. The cast and crew genuinely enjoy working together, and if the reboot is good, you’ll love it. If it’s not, you simply won’t watch it. Let’s give it a chance!”

Lawrence previously shared his thoughts on a potential Scrubs reboot. He said he’s definitely thought about where the characters would be years later, no longer as interns, and how the medical field has evolved. He found it easy to imagine new stories with both the original characters and a fresh group of young doctors. He also reassured fans that the reboot would involve many of the original Scrubs writers, as well as some new talent.

A tenth season of Scrubs is currently being filmed, bringing back original stars Zach Braff and Donald Faison. Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, and John C. McGinley are also reprising their roles, and Vanessa Bayer and Joel Kim Booster are joining the cast as new characters.

Scrubs will premiere with two back-to-back episodes at 8 p.m. Feb. 25, 2026, on ABC.
