But honestly, the way they handled the divorce in the new episodes felt…off. They quickly revealed they’d split up since the finale, and while there was a little tension at first, they basically fell right back into their old dynamic at Sacred Heart. It just didn’t ring true to me; divorces are usually pretty tough, and the show didn’t really seem interested in acknowledging that at all in those first couple of episodes.

In the latest episode, JD and Elliot finally have a heartfelt conversation, revealing that both are hurting more than they let on. Even though Elliot ended their relationship, she’s clearly affected by working with and for JD, now her boss.
