The latest season for League of Legends has made quite an entrance, causing a stir in multiple aspects. A highly debated topic revolves around the Blue Essence currency, as Riot Games, its developers, have acknowledged their mistake in handling it.
In the upcoming gaming season of 2025, the developers tweaked the figures for earning in-game currency and experience points (XP) on my account. After crunching some numbers, it appears that acquiring sufficient Blue Essence to purchase a fresh champion isn’t looking too promising.
Therefore, it’s clear that the free-to-play experience this year isn’t as good as it was previously, and Riot Games have acknowledged this issue. In upcoming game updates, players can expect a substantial boost in the amount of Blue Essence they receive.
Upcoming League of Legends Blue Essence changes explained
On their official League of Legends site, the developers acknowledged three main aspects where mistakes were made. One of these errors involves the rate at which Blue Essence is earned, which has been found to be substantially lower for many players when compared to last year.
Additionally, it takes approximately 30% longer for players to progress from Level 1 to Level 30 and access ranked matches. Moreover, there was a lack of clear communication about the relocation of champion capsules associated with account levels beyond Level 30 to the pass.
To tackle the Blue Essence issue, rates are being boosted. At the lower end, it’s jumping from 4,820 to 5,320, while at the higher end, it’s rising significantly from 8,910 to 19,940. The majority of this increase is attributed to extra Blue Essence from Epilogue Milestone, where the reward for each milestone is escalating, moving up from 50 to 750.
It’s important to mention that since several players have progressed quite far in the Milestones, Riot can’t make these changes in this particular Act. As an alternative, they are planning to introduce a one-time mission that is simple to complete and will be available from Patch 25.S1.3 onwards.
To wrap things up, Experience Points from Account XP are about to surge by 40%, and the last Champion Capsule within the Pass will be replaced with a Glorious Champion Capsule starting from the Act 2 Pass.
The latest data is significantly more positive than what we have now, and it could help soothe an excited fan base.)
