Police officers in Brazil, cleverly disguised as Scooby Doo characters, arrested a group of thieves who were stealing phones at a carnival.
I absolutely love Scooby Doo! It’s all about Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby themselves traveling around in their awesome van, the Mystery Machine, and getting involved in all sorts of spooky mysteries wherever they go.
I’ve been a fan of these characters for ages! They first became popular through classic cartoons and comics, and even got a couple of really fun movies thanks to James Gunn. Now, I’m so excited that Netflix is making a live-action series – it’s going to show us how they all got started!
However, in Brazil, people are using the Scooby-Doo characters in an unexpected way – they’re helping to catch real criminals! It’s like the Scooby gang is actually solving genuine crimes.

It’s carnival time in Brazil, and police are getting creative! As part of a program called ‘Operation Tracking,’ officers are dressing up in costumes to blend in with the celebrations.
Police in São Paulo went undercover dressed as characters from Scooby-Doo and even a Squid Game guard to catch a group of thieves who were stealing phones.
The New York Post reports that police arrested a man and two women. One of the women was found with eight cellphones. The group was taken to the police station, and the stolen phones were given back to their owners.
Brazilian police have used costumed tactics before. Earlier this month in São Paulo, officers dressed as Ghostbusters apprehended a woman who had 12 phones.
In a creative move, police officers in Rio de Janeiro recently disguised themselves as characters from the show Money Heist and the movie Friday the 13th to catch criminals during Carnival celebrations.
