Save A Fox charity confirms death of Finnegan the Fox

I was really bummed to hear that Finnegan the Fox passed away. He was famous for being in all those sweet videos with Mikayla from Save A Fox, and a lot of people probably didn’t even realize he was the one making some of the sounds in Overwatch 2! They announced it on January 30th, and it’s just sad news for the whole gaming and animal rescue community.

I found out about it through a video on the Save A Fox YouTube channel. Apparently, Finnegan passed away about two months ago, and Ethan Frankamp, his husband, shared the news there. It was really sad to hear.

He explained in a pinned comment that he waited to share the news because he was dealing with several personal losses and needed time to process them.

Save A Fox confirms Finnegan’s passing

We are deeply saddened to share that our dear Finnegan Fox has passed away,” he said. “We apologize for the delay in announcing his passing; he died about two months ago.

He explained that editing the video was incredibly difficult because he was grieving both the loss of his wife, Mikayla Raines, and Finnegan.

Raines, who founded the charity in 2017, died in 2025.

Many people who watch the Save A Fox channel will recognize Finnegan – he was a frequent star in their animal rescue videos. He’s also the voice behind the sounds made by Kiriko’s fox spirit in the video game Overwatch 2.

In the same post, Raines’ husband explained that the family had substantial medical bills from caring for Finnegan and asked if anyone would like to donate to help with those costs. He also said they would refund sponsors for the last two months.

The statement ended by thanking supporters for their patience and ongoing help.
