Savannah Guthrie Returns to Today

Savannah Guthrie returned to hosting the Today show on April 6th, marking her first appearance since her mother, Nancy Guthrie, went missing. During the broadcast, she shared, “It’s good to be home.” While the show didn’t mention Nancy’s case directly, Savannah wore a sunflower-yellow dress – a color often associated with hope in missing person cases. Supporters gathered outside the studio, wearing yellow ribbons and displaying signs of encouragement for the Guthrie family. Savannah acknowledged the fans, saying, “Some beautiful signs out there,” and expressed her gratitude, adding, “I’m really feeling the love so much.” She took time during the second hour of the show to greet her fans personally, thanking them for the “beautiful” letters and kindness extended to her and her family.

Most people are now familiar with the sad situation – it’s been a major news story since February 1st, and Savannah Guthrie recently discussed it in a heartfelt interview with her close friend and co-anchor, Hoda Kotb, on March 26th and 27th. Guthrie explained to Kotb that she didn’t want to pretend to be okay, but she also felt she needed to return to work. She shared, “I want to smile, and when I do, it will be genuine. My happiness will be my way of responding to this difficult time.”
