Monster Hunter is a well-known series developed by Capcom, having been around for over 20 years and remaining consistently popular. However, the newest game, Monster Hunter Wilds, is facing some challenges. It currently has mostly negative reviews on Steam, often due to performance issues. Unfortunately, the recent update (released on September 29, 2025) didn’t improve things, and player reviews have continued to decline. Despite these problems on PC, the game has still managed to attract thousands of players. This is likely due to its scale, including a collaboration with Final Fantasy XIV Online and a formidable new boss – Omega Planetes and its challenging Savage version. This opponent is proving difficult for hunters, and the tip for defeating it is rather unexpected.
Do you want to kill Savage Omega? Don’t play with others
Savage Omega is what players call the Savage version of Omega Planetes. You unlock it in MH Wilds by beating the normal version for the first time. This boss is incredibly challenging even at its base power level. The second phase is even harder, because it immediately uses all of its powerful fire and ice attacks instead of unlocking them gradually. On top of that, it’s extremely aggressive. It’s hard to find openings to attack, and players need to defeat it within 35 minutes.
To win, you’ll need a team of friends who work well together – including strong defenders, someone to heal, and so on… or you can go it alone. Interestingly, even though the game promotes teamwork, Savege Omega is a boss that’s best fought solo. But why is that?
Generally, it’s best to keep playing with a strong, established team. However, for this particular fight, it’s better to play by yourself using Support Hunters instead of teaming up with random players. NPCs actually perform quite well in this battle. An uncoordinated group doesn’t stand much of a chance against Savage Omega. Many experienced players suggest this strategy. So, if you’re struggling with this fight, consider using NPCs instead.
