Two of the hottest anniversary watches are getting a limited-edition international re-release.
The popular Seiko x Kuromi and Seiko x My Melody anniversary watches are back in stock on the official online store! Both models previously sold out, but currently, two of each are available for $400 apiece.
Kuromi & My Melody Seiko Watch Models Get New Re-Release for Stylish Sanrio Collectors

I’m absolutely loving these new Seiko collaborations! The My Melody 50th anniversary watch is just adorable – it has a sweet rose-pink face with beautiful gold, silver, and white accents. You’ll even find My Melody’s signature bow at the 12 o’clock mark and a little illustration of her sitting at 6! And the Kuromi watch is equally cool! It’s got a pastel purple dial with black, silver, and gold details, and Kuromi herself is featured at 6, with her crown emblem up at 12. They’re both such fun and unique designs!
Each watch has an engraving of its character on the back and is limited to 2,000 copies. Both are powered by quartz movements and housed in stainless steel cases measuring 34.8 mm by 29.1 mm by 7.9 mm, complete with matching stainless steel bands. They are also water-resistant up to 100 meters (10 bar).
I’ve noticed a lot of My Melody and Kuromi merchandise lately, and these anniversary watches are just the newest addition! It seems like fans have had plenty of opportunities to celebrate their favorite Sanrio characters this past year. I especially enjoyed the animated series that came out on Netflix in July, My Melody & Kuromi. It’s a surprisingly edgy, but still super cute, adventure – definitely something different than what I’ve seen before.
Netflix’s My Melody & Kuromi follows My Melody, whose new bakery is doing well thanks to a special heart-shaped item. Meanwhile, her rival Kuromi is having trouble with her shop. They both enter a baking contest judged by Chef Pistachio, but little do they know, the competition will put the whole land of Mariland in danger.
When My Melody & Kuromi was released, it received very positive reviews from both critics and viewers. Currently, it has an 8.2 out of 10 rating on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), based on over 600 reviews.
Kuromi Continues Major Popularity Boost in Sanrio Push for ‘Updated Charm’
Even leaders at Sanrio recognize Kuromi’s appeal, with one executive, Seiichiro Matsumoto, noting that she possesses a unique blend of cuteness, coolness, and a slightly rebellious edge that the company hopes to highlight in the future.
Naoko Susa, who leads Kuromi branding at Sanrio, explained that they’ve refreshed how they present the character’s appeal. She said Sanrio believes Kuromi still resonates with young people and they plan to highlight her creative side and activities as an artist.
I recently learned how the company tracks the success of its characters. They use polling data to understand what fans think, and according to Figini, their latest polls were particularly insightful. He explained that the results really matched how people are currently engaging with the characters. This gave them a lot of confidence that characters like My Melody, Kuromi, Pompompurin, and Cinnamoroll will remain popular for years to come.
