Samuel L. Jackson Returns as Russell Lee Washington Jr.
The first season of Frisco King will have eight episodes, all written by Taylor Sheridan. Jackson will star as Russell Lee Washington Jr., a role he previously played, and also serves as an executive producer. While the main storyline remains a secret, details about the other characters have been revealed, giving viewers some idea of their importance to the show.
Germann will play Teddy, a clever and ambitious college dropout who catches Lee’s eye. Caster is Keith, a courteous valet at the Sandman Hotel. Pate will play London, a popular cheerleader who Lee recruits and who isn’t afraid to use her looks to get ahead. And Gann will be Avery, a cheerleader and friend of London’s who also joins Lee’s team.
Originally announced in 2024, the series—previously known as NOLA King and planned to be set in New Orleans—has undergone some changes. Following a creative reset, the show is now titled Frisco King and will be filmed in Frisco, Texas. It was officially greenlit for production in 2025.
Samuel L. Jackson Sets a Career First With Frisco King
Jackson has been on TV before, but Frisco King will be his first time leading a series. While he’s famous for his movie roles, he didn’t hesitate to take the part. He’s a long-time fan of Taylor Sheridan and was excited about the chance to work with him.
I’m a big fan and always have at least 15 of those shows on my list, so I’m thrilled to be a part of that world! Honestly, I don’t know much about what’s coming up, but I’m really excited to dive in and see what happens.
While a release date for Frisco King hasn’t been announced, filming is expected to begin this month in Fort Worth, Texas.
