Tech content creator Daniel, who goes by ZONEofTECH online, reports that the battery in his Samsung Galaxy Ring expanded while he was wearing it, making it impossible for him to take the ring off.
On September 29th, Daniel shared on X that he encountered a problem while getting ready to board a flight. He explained, “The battery of my Samsung Galaxy Ring began to swell while it was still on my finger, and just as I was about to board a flight.” He also mentioned the ring was painful and he was unable to remove it. This presented a difficult situation as he prepared for his flight.
I was so excited to see the photos he posted – you can actually see the Galaxy Ring still on his finger! It’s incredible that the post already hit over 14 million views by today. I’m really following this closely and can’t wait to learn more – check it out here!
Oh man, this is really concerning!
My new Samsung Galaxy Ring is having a problem – the battery is swelling up while it’s still on my finger 😬. And the worst part? I’m about to get on a flight 😬
I’m trying to get it off, but I can’t, and it’s actually starting to hurt.
Does anyone have any quick ideas? I’m tagging @SamsungUK and @SamsungMobileUS in case they can help!

YouTuber’s smart ring removed after trip to hospital
In a follow-up, Daniel explained that the incident caused him to be refused entry onto his flight, forcing him to get a hotel room after being in transit for almost 47 hours. He then required emergency medical attention at the hospital, where doctors successfully removed the ring.
Photos he posted after examining the device revealed the Galaxy Ring’s internal components, including a significantly swollen battery. Daniel stated he wouldn’t be using another smart ring in the future.
Samsung responds
After Daniel finally got home, he updated fans on X and revealed that Samsung reached out to him.
The YouTuber said the company covered his hotel and provided a car to pick him up. They also took the ring to look into what happened. He reports his finger is healing nicely, though it’s a little marked from the initial swelling.
