In the trailer for the new film Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, Sam Rockwell plays a time traveler whose mission is to protect humankind.

According to the official description, a man who says he’s from the future holds people hostage at a famous Los Angeles diner. He’s looking for a few unexpected people to help him save the world.

What does the Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die trailer show?

“Something big is about to happen,” warns a man claiming to be from the future, speaking to customers at a Los Angeles diner. He’s from a devastated future where humanity suffered greatly. A powerful artificial intelligence took over the world, turning it into a nightmare.

The Man motivates his customers by telling them their situation isn’t fixed – they can turn things around if they take action immediately. He says to his new fighters, “You might not survive tonight, but you have a real chance to be the ones who save everything.” He then leads them into battle.

The film stars Mahershala Ali alongside Haley Lu Richardson, Michael Peña, Zazie Beetz, Asim Chandhry, Tom Taylor, and Juno Temple.

Gore Verbinski returns to feature films with Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, marking his first project since 2016’s A Cure for Wellness. He’s widely recognized as the director of the original Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy and the Oscar-winning animated movie Rango, and this new film features a screenplay by Matthew Robinson.

Producers include Verbinski, Robert Kulzer, Erwin Stoff, Oly Obst, and Denise Chamian.

The sci-fi comedy Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die was well-received at the Fantastic Fest film festival in September 2025 and currently holds a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die releases in theaters on February 13, 2026.
