Sam Rockwell’s 17-Year-Old Sci-Fi Is Required Viewing Ahead of His Anti-AI Satire (& It’s Coming to Hulu)

A highly-rated sci-fi movie from the director is coming to Hulu. Interestingly, it’s a great companion piece to their newest, fast-paced action film.

With just under two days to go, fans can finally stream the acclaimed 2009 sci-fi film Moon, starring Rockwell, on Hulu. Moon will be available alongside other popular genre titles like The Day After Tomorrow and Pacific Rim: Uprising.

What Is 2009’s Moon All About — And Why Is It So Worth Watching?

Directed by Duncan Jones and written by Nathan Parker, the film follows Sam, a solitary worker at a Moon-based helium-3 mining operation. As his three-year contract nears its end, Sam’s hope begins to fade when he experiences communication failures and declining health.

Watching Sam’s journey, I realized he wasn’t just living his own life – he was caught in something huge, a web of lies and secret dealings by powerful corporations. It really made me think about who he was as a person, and how he dealt with everything. He ended up fighting against the very system that controlled him, but in a really clever way, almost dodging its influence whenever he could.

Despite not being a big hit at the box office – it earned $9.8 million on a $5 million budget – the film Moon received widespread praise from both critics and viewers. Currently, it boasts a 90% ‘Certified Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, along with an 89% audience score.

Sam Rockwell’s Latest Sci-Fi Feature Is Everything Moon Isn’t

Sam Rockwell is currently starring in the sci-fi series Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die. In the show, he plays a mysterious man who travels from the future to a Los Angeles diner. His mission? To convince the diner’s patrons to help him stop a dangerous artificial intelligence from taking over.

Starring alongside Sam Rockwell, Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die boasts a talented cast including Haley Lu Richardson, Michael Peña, Asim Chaudhry, Juno Temple, and Zazie Beetz. The movie, a fast-paced and sharply funny action comedy, hit theaters in February and quickly gained a following thanks to its quick wit, clever dialogue, and strong performances.

Despite not being a big success in cinemas, Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die only earned $9.3 million at the box office, while it cost $20 million to make.
