Masahiro Sakurai, the mind behind Super Smash Bros, has been flooded with character suggestions for Smash 6 following his brief commentary in relation to the potential Nintendo Switch 2 announcement.
It was announced by Nintendo on February 4th that they will be holding a dedicated event focusing on the Switch 2, scheduled for April 2nd, 2025. During this event, they plan to share additional details about the console and its launch games.
There’s a lot of excitement building among fans as they eagerly anticipate updates about the upcoming Smash Bros game, with whispers suggesting that its creator, Sakurai, has returned from retirement to develop it.
Despite players being unsure whether Smash 6 will be an entirely fresh game or an upgraded version like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, this uncertainty hasn’t dampened the inflow of requests for it.
Following the Nintendo Direct announcement about the Switch 2, Sakurai merely tweeted “Wow”, which sparked a flurry of speculation among Smash fans regarding potential new additions to the game.

One person suggested that Fahkumram could be an excellent choice for a new Tekken character in Super Smash Bros, if they’re considering characters to incorporate from the Tekken series.
Another person suggested, ‘Now’s the moment, Mr. Sakurai,’ listing off desires such as Shadow the Hedgehog and Waluigi.

Among other frequent suggestions, there were names like Dante, Master Chief, Crash, and Ryu from Ninja Gaiden. However, the creator of Smash Bros. did not respond to any of them.
