Sailor Moon Writer Teases ‘Amazing’ New Show in Latest Production Update

The musical opens on April 4th at the Club eX in the Shinagawa Prince Hotel, and promises a fully immersive experience. This includes opportunities to meet the cast, plus specially themed food and drinks.

This new show continues the story started in 2019, which unfortunately had to close in August 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The original show only featured the Inner Guardians, but this version has a completely new plot that unites all 10 Sailor Guardians. To allow more people to see the show, it will be performed by two different teams who rotate performances.

The performers, known as Team Gold Moon and Team Silver Moon, have been revealed, launching a new story where the Guardians face a powerful new villain, Queen Valusia. Go Ueki, the director of Attack on Titan – Musical, is also directing and producing Sailor Moon -Shining Theater Shinagawa Tokyo.

Sailor Moon Faces a New Enemy in Latest Original Production

Usagi and her friends venture to a new AI park in Tokyo, unaware that it’s a cleverly disguised trap set by Valusia. The queen is using the park’s technology to slowly steal Usagi’s emotions and place curses on Mamoru, Ami, Rei, Makoto, and Minako. Realizing the danger, Chibiusa and the Outer Guardians—Haruka, Michiru, Setsuna, and Hotaru—must fight to save everyone, even though Valusia’s powers are a serious threat.

I’m so excited about this! If you’re a member of the Pretty Guardians fan club, you could already snag tickets – sales were open from January 31st to February 5th. But don’t worry if you missed that – general sales are happening right now for everyone, both here and abroad! It’s first-come, first-served, so you’ll want to head over to the show’s website quickly to get yours!

The musical’s comeback is a significant achievement for the brand, particularly considering recent challenges with other international Sailor Moon events. Last November, the Sailor Moon Super Live tour had to cancel all shows in Beijing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai. Additionally, the franchise’s worldwide museum tour was put on hold with no set date to resume.
