As a long-time follower of Counter-Strike, I have witnessed the extraordinary skills of Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyljev firsthand. His return to competitive play with Team Falcons was highly anticipated, especially considering his status as the GOAT in the CS community. Alas, it seems that fate had other plans for s1mple at the Shanghai Major European A RMR event.
Often regarded as the Greatest of All Time in Counter-Strike, Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyljev was absent from the initial Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) Major Championship, known as the Copenhagen Major, because he was on an inactive status. Later in September, s1mple joined Team Falcons temporarily to compete and strive for qualification towards the Perfect World Shanghai Major.
As a gamer on Team Falcons, we kicked off the Shanghai Major European A RMR event with an exhilarating victory against Eclot, ending the game with a 16-13 scoreline. However, our momentum was halted when we faced FaZe Clan in another map that pushed into overtime, ultimately losing 16-12. Things took a turn for the worse as SAW handed us a surprising defeat, leaving us reeling at a 13-5 loss. In our final match against s1mple and GamerLegion at the European A RMR, we fought valiantly but came up short, losing 2-1 and getting eliminated from the tournament.
In the closing match against GamerLegion on Mirage, s1mple displayed glimpses of his former greatness, leading the scoring board with an impressive 23 kills and a 1.65 HLTV rating. However, Team Falcons ultimately fell to GamerLegion with a 13-7 scoreline despite his outstanding individual performance.
On Twitter (X), s1mple assured his followers that he’d make a comeback, stronger than ever, diligently preparing to clinch a Major Championship victory.
Don’t fret, I’ll return with more strength. If I must take a break and rest, I will keep training relentlessly to claim victory at the Major. By the way, let’s focus on +training -vertigo as soon as possible, and prepare the full spaceship map for me.

In brief, S1mple remains a member of NAVI, though he’s not actively playing due to being on loan to Team Falcons. It was expected that his presence would help Team Falcons secure a spot in the Shanghai Major, unfortunately, they were unable to do so.

Could it be possible that the GOAT will claim victory in a CS:2 Major Championship? Will s1mple continue to sit out with NAVI for the time being? We’re eagerly awaiting the unfolding events, but until then, all attention is centered on the teams participating at the Perfect World Shanghai Major from 30 November to 15 December 2024.
