Ryan Reynolds Makes Surprise Appearance at Hugh Jackman’s ‘From New York, With Love’ Opening: ‘He Is Genuinely the Best Human Being I Know’

On the opening night of his stage performance titled “From New York, With Love” at Radio City Music Hall on a Friday, Hugh Jackman was unexpectedly joined by his co-star from “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Ryan Reynolds (as reported by People).

During a brief interlude in the live show, where Ryan Reynolds sang numbers from “The Music Man,” “The Boy From Oz,” “The Greatest Showman,” and “Les Misérables” (like he was X-Men character), Jackman received some heartfelt compliments from Reynolds, who had unexpectedly joined the audience.

Kicking things off with some light humor, Reynolds commented on the show, “Initially, they told me this was going to be a comedic adaptation of ‘Les Mis’ as a solo performance. We all agreed it sounded like a bad idea, but he persisted. And here I am, tricked again by him!

After that, he delivered a heartfelt speech about his long-term partner in projects: “This is the first major movie star I ever collaborated with, back around 16 or 17 years ago on ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine.’ At the time, I was still young and easily influenced. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I joined this film set with him, and I had no idea what lay ahead. … However, what I witnessed was almost the best thing anyone could experience if you’re trying to make a name for yourself in this industry.

Reynolds went on to explain, “I’m serious about my words, and I understand we were supposed to include a scene where two security men attempt to grab the microphone from me in a fight, then shock me with a taser, tie me up, put me in a trash pile at Radio City Music Hall, and set it on fire. But what I really wanted to express is that I deeply admire this man, I value him greatly, he truly is the finest person I know. And I have four children.

In reply, Jackman expressed his affection for Ryan Reynolds by saying, ‘I adore you, Ryan Reynolds, I truly do.’ He also thanked him and added humorously, ‘And I appreciate your request for a complimentary ticket as well.’
