With Ryan Murphy’s legal drama All’s Fair coming to an end, fans won’t have to wait long for his next show. FX announced today that The Beauty will premiere on both FX and Hulu on January 21, 2026. Like All’s Fair, which mixed drama and comedy, The Beauty will blend genres, but with a more suspenseful and thrilling tone. It remains to be seen how intense the series will be, and how it will stack up against Murphy’s other shows like American Horror Story or Grotesquerie.
FX describes the series as follows:
FX’s The Beauty is a dark thriller set in the glamorous world of high fashion, where supermodels are mysteriously and violently dying. FBI agents Cooper Madsen and Jordan Bennett are dispatched to Paris to investigate. They soon discover a disturbing virus that turns people into seemingly perfect physical specimens, but at a horrifying cost. Their investigation leads them to ‘The Corporation,’ a powerful tech billionaire played by Ashton Kutcher, who created a miracle drug called ‘The Beauty’ and will stop at nothing—even using a dangerous enforcer—to protect his vast fortune. As the virus spreads globally, a man named Jeremy finds himself caught in the middle of the chaos while the agents race across multiple cities—Paris, Venice, Rome, and New York—to prevent a catastrophe that could change humanity forever. The Beauty explores the question: how far would you go to achieve perfection?
The series will feature appearances by a stellar cast, including Amelia Gray Hamlin, Ari Graynor, Bella Hadid, Ben Platt, Billy Eichner, Isabella Rossellini, Jaquel Spivey, Jessica Alexander, Jon Jon Briones, John Carroll Lynch, Julie Halston, Lux Pascal, Meghan Trainor, Nicola Peltz Beckham, Peter Gallagher, and Vincent D’Onofrio.

What Can We Expect From ‘The Beauty’?

This new show is inspired by the comic book series The Beauty, created by Jason A. Hurley and Jeremy Haun. The comic ran for 29 issues starting in 2016, and after a two-year pause, a final issue was released to conclude the story. The series blended detective work with the horror of a sexually transmitted disease, drawing comparisons to shows like Twin Peaks and films like It Follows. While the showrunner isn’t expected to avoid the darker aspects of the premise, it remains to be seen how much of the comic’s disturbing imagery will be included.
Image Comics has seen significant success with adaptations of its titles. The Walking Dead, which premiered in 2010, became a huge cultural phenomenon for over ten years, leading to several spin-offs and a renewed interest in zombie stories. More recently, Invincible, another creation by Robert Kirkman (the creator of The Walking Dead), has become a hit as an animated series on Prime Video, with plans already in place for Seasons 4 and 5.
The Beauty will premiere on FX and Hulu on Jan. 21, 2026.
