Project Hail Mary is a huge box office success! It’s earned over $300 million worldwide in just two weeks, making it the highest-grossing Hollywood film of 2026 so far. In the United States, it brought in another $54.5 million, with ticket sales dropping only slightly (about 32%) from its opening weekend (according to Box Office Mojo).
Project Hail Mary is performing exceptionally well in theaters, especially considering how most big movies fare after their opening weekend. It’s actually earning more than expected. After ten days, the film has made $164.3 million domestically, surpassing the second-weekend performance of films like Oppenheimer (down 43%) and Dune: Part Two (down 44%). It’s also earned another $54.1 million internationally, bringing its worldwide total to approximately $136 million (according to Deadline).
The blockbuster film has earned over $300.8 million worldwide, exceeding the total earnings of popular movies like Creed III. Remarkably, it became Amazon MGM Studios’ most successful film in just 10 days since the merger, excluding the James Bond films distributed by Sony.
Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the movie is based on Andy Weir’s novel and stars Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace, a scientist who wakes up with no memory on a spaceship. He quickly learns he’s on a critical mission to save the Earth, and along the way, he forms an unexpected bond with an alien named Rocky. The film’s combination of humor, emotion, and stunning visuals has generated a lot of positive buzz, leading audiences to come back for more.
