If this is a preview of what’s coming in the Monster Hunter Wilds expansion – set to be shown this summer – then Capcom has truly exceeded expectations.
Okay, so I was checking out the new screenshots for the February update, and I think I just spotted something crazy. There’s this sword that looks like a mirror, and it seems to be reflecting a monster we haven’t seen before! A big shoutout to @Nasafitra for pointing it out – it’s a seriously sneaky way to hide a potential clue, honestly.
The winning fan-designed weapon is now available, and the creator has clarified on Reddit that the mysterious creature accompanying it wasn’t part of their initial design.
Here’s the render, taken from the official Monster Hunter website’s latest news post:
As of now, the creature’s identity remains a mystery. All we’ve been able to determine is that it has scales resembling sand and sharp, spiky teeth.
Some people think this might be our first look at the main monster for the upcoming expansion, but we won’t know for sure until the official announcement this summer.
It’s also quite possible this creature is just another animal that will be added to the Wilds in a future game update.
Right now, we can only admire Capcom’s cleverness. People always enjoy a good mystery and all the guessing that comes with it.
