It’s becoming increasingly clear that Capcom is indeed remaking Resident Evil 0. A recent report confirms the remake is happening and shares some new information about the characters and storyline.
According to MP1st, Capcom is working on a remake of the 2002 prequel, internally known as project “Chamber.” The name likely honors the game’s hero, Rebecca Chambers. Development has been underway for several years, and motion capture began sometime in 2024.
Actor Jon McLaren, who voiced Star-Lord in the 2021 game *Guardians of the Galaxy*, has a project listed on his resume called “Project Chamber.” He describes it as a major, unreleased game where he plays a leading role. The project is associated with Beyond Capture Studios, a motion-capture company that also worked on popular games like *Street Fighter 6* and the *Resident Evil 4* remake.
Although it hasn’t been officially announced, many believe McLaren will play Billy Coen, a key character from Resident Evil 0. Billy helps Rebecca Chambers investigate a strange outbreak of zombies near Raccoon City.
The beginning of the Resident Evil 0 remake will expand on the story and characters introduced on the zombie-filled train from the original game. According to MP1st, a key addition will be a fully developed train conductor character who actively interacts with the protagonists, Chambers and Coen, unlike the original where he was only mentioned.
Okay, so I’ve been following the rumors about a Resident Evil 0 remake, and it looks like we’re going to be waiting a while. A reliable leaker, DuskGolem, is saying it probably won’t hit shelves until 2028. Apparently, Capcom might be working on a remake of Code Veronica first, with that potentially dropping in 2027. Just to be clear, Capcom hasn’t officially said anything about either of these remakes yet, so it’s all just speculation for now.
The newest Resident Evil game, titled Resident Evil Requiem, will be released on February 27, 2026. The story follows the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from the previous game, Resident Evil Outbreak, and marks a return to the iconic setting of Raccoon City.
