Marvel fans are eager to find out why Doctor Doom will launch an attack across the multiverse in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars movies. According to a new report, there’s a surprisingly sad motivation behind his actions.
These two films will conclude Marvel’s Multiverse Saga, featuring universes colliding in a way that’s reminiscent of children playfully smashing their toys. However, instead of toys, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige is bringing together superheroes that audiences have cherished for years.
The latest trailer for Doomsday revealed that classic X-Men characters and Magneto (played by Ian McKellen) will officially join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there are hints of even more unexpected appearances. It’s still unclear why Robert Downey Jr. is taking on the role of Victor von Doom, though.
According to a rumor, we may soon learn the reason behind the villain’s attack on Earth’s heroes across multiple universes in the upcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday.
Why does Doctor Doom attack the multiverse in Avengers: Doomsday?
According to insider MyTimeToShineHello, Doctor Doom’s motives for attacking the multiverse in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie will stem from a personal tragedy involving Captain America. The source claims that Doom’s wife and son died in an accident, and he discovered Captain America’s time travel was responsible. Driven by revenge for his family, Doom will target Captain America.
As fans know from Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) traveled to the past to return the Infinity Stones to their original locations after Thanos was defeated. He then lived a life with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), and they had a child, a moment briefly shown in the teaser for the Doomsday project.
It’s currently unknown exactly how Captain America led to the deaths of Doctor Doom’s wife and son, but it appears he didn’t realize his actions would have such tragic results. He wouldn’t intentionally cause harm like that, so it’s likely he was unaware of the consequences.
It’s unexpected that Doctor Doom’s story begins with Captain America, especially considering his long-standing connection to the Fantastic Four and Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal).
The Russo brothers recently mentioned that the upcoming Avengers movie, currently titled ‘Doomsday,’ wouldn’t feel complete without Steve Rogers involved, which lends some credibility to the rumors. However, the actual story could be very different when the movie comes out in December.
