Ronan Farrow shared at the EbMaster Studio, hosted by Audible during Sundance, that he was the one who encouraged his mother, Mia Farrow, to return to acting. Last fall, Mia appeared on Broadway alongside Patti Lupone in Jen Silverman’s play “The Roommate.” Before that, she had a supporting role in the Ryan Murphy-produced Netflix series “The Watcher.” However, aside from these recent appearances, she had largely stayed away from the screen for almost a decade.
Ronan shared with Tatiana Segal from EbMaster’s that he regards his mom as an exceptional artist. Many directors and writers of his generation are captivated by her work and eager for her to contribute more. However, she has taken breaks from acting due to various reasons, including the challenges she’s faced in this industry. The process of convincing her to act again was not easy.
After her triumphant Broadway performance and the positive reviews she received, Ronan mentioned that Mia might have been bitten by the acting bug yet another time.
He mentioned that numerous actors praised him, saying, ‘It’s an outstanding performance,’ he continued. He revealed that he subtly suggested to her, ‘I’ll review the script, and if it’s excellent, then it’s worth pursuing.’ Now, she’s at a point where if it’s a suitable opportunity with a deep, rewarding role, she might accept. This is truly beneficial for everyone involved.
It seems that Ronan mentioned to EbMaster his hope for Mia, possibly his mother, to appear in the upcoming season of Hulu’s comedy series “Only Murders in the Building.
Farrow will be in Park City, hosted by Audible, for the upcoming “Not a Very Good Murderer.” Earlier this year, the journalist secured a multi-project deal with the company. The podcast, described as a “wild, genre-bending investigative series,” is slated to drop on March 20th.
Over several years, “Not a Very Good Murderer” delves into the investigative journey of Farrow as he pursues a political lead, only to unexpectedly uncover a string of unsolved murders in one of America’s most affluent gated communities. Along the way, he develops an intense relationship with a vibrant and pivotal informant who possesses crucial information needed to solve these mysteries.
Farrow’s projects for Audible are now part of a rapidly expanding collection of investigative reporting podcasts from Audible, which also includes “The Debutante” by Jon Ronson, as well as “Think Twice: Michael Jackson” and the “Backfired” series produced by Leon Neyfakh and Prologue Projects.
