Roku reached more than 90 million streaming households in the first week of the new year.

In Q3 of last year, tech company Roku disclosed they had 85.5 million active streaming homes. As per their announcement on Tuesday, by the end of 2024, this number increased to 89.8 million. They surpassed the 90-million mark within the first seven days of January by adding more users.

Roku’s large scale in the streaming market gives it an edge over other TV operating systems in the U.S., as it has more user engagement than any other platform. Because we are dedicated to making the streaming experience easier and better for our users, Roku is the preferred choice for countless viewers. I am thankful to our customers, partners, advertisers, and staff for helping us achieve this significant accomplishment.

In October of Q3 2024, the technology firm revealed that they would cease sharing their regular updates on streaming households, as they consider this metric outdated. This move mirrors Netflix’s decision to stop releasing quarterly subscriber numbers.

At that point in time, Roku stated they would keep expanding their streaming household base. They also mentioned they would soon share significant achievements like surpassing 100 million users. Roku anticipates hitting this target by the beginning of 2026.
