Rock-and-roll management RPG Rockbeasts gets a new Day of the Devs trailer, confirmed for Switch 2 as well

During the Day of the Devs: The Game Awards Edition digital event, Lichthund, the developer of the upcoming RPG Rockbeasts, revealed a new trailer, published by Team17.

Rockbeasts will be available on Switch 2, as well as Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (via Steam). You can see new screenshots and a trailer with more information on the game’s Steam page.

ROCKBEASTS is a rock & roll management RPG set in an alternative 90s America. Written by the principal writer of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, featuring voices from Baldur’s Gate 3 and rock legend Iggy Pop himself, this comedy-drama puts you behind the scenes of the music industry’s brutal reality. Every choice shapes your band’s journey from garage obscurity to stardom—will you fight for creative freedom, or become industry sellouts?

ROCKBEASTS delivers a heartfelt and humorous story, but instead of just watching it, you experience it through interactive gameplay. You’re not simply observing your band’s challenges – you’re actively playing them out.

Embark on quests that shape your story, carefully manage your finances, and navigate the delicate personalities of those around you – all crucial for success, or even just making it through. Create setlists that can make or break your shows, fix your gear before taking the stage, and perform in rhythm-based concerts. This RPG demands your active participation; every victory and setback is a direct result of your choices and actions.

The music industry is full of difficult choices. You’ll have to navigate tricky negotiations with record labels, decide how much to compromise your artistic vision for success, and find a balance between staying true to yourself and appealing to a wider audience. Your career will be defined by the relationships you build with everyone from venue owners and promoters to record label executives, and by the deals you make – and the ones you walk away from.

Keep your band going by managing your money wisely. You’ll need to split your limited funds between paying your band members, fixing gear, and renting practice rooms. The goal is to keep everyone happy and motivated enough to perform their best!

Show off your band’s skills by carefully planning your performances to highlight what you do best, setting up equipment that fits your sound, and then delivering energetic, rhythm-focused shows. Great performances will earn you money and attract fans. Poor shows will damage your reputation and discourage the band. If you can command the stage, you’ll unlock new opportunities. But if you falter, those opportunities will disappear.

Okay, so this game totally throws you into an alternate version of America, like the 90s but… different. Think grunge music, crazy capitalism, and MTV all mashed together. The art style is amazing – it’s all hand-drawn and reminds me of those really good animated shows geared towards adults. They’ve nailed the look and feel of the whole scene, bringing places like famous concert halls, dingy bars, record shops, and radio stations to life. It really feels like you’re walking through the streets where it all started.

This album features seventeen complete, original songs that perfectly recreate the sound of 90s alternative rock. You can both listen to the iconic ‘Seattle Sound’ and actually play these songs in the game’s concerts. It’s more than just a throwback – it’s an immersive experience that captures the spirit of the decade.

Each day in the music industry brings its own problems – from personality conflicts and equipment failures to the slow erosion of artistic passion. Can you transform raw energy into unforgettable songs? Or will your band be another example of talent wasted? Your music has the power to make a difference, but only if you can overcome the obstacles and get it heard. And all of this is happening on a Monday!
