Robert Eggers is having a triumphant week as he introduces more creatures to his entourage. On Wednesday, he disclosed his upcoming thriller titled Werwulf, and on Thursday, his latest movie Nosferatu earned four Oscar nominations. Now, Eggers will collaborate with some fresh creatures, ranging from the colossal to the minuscule. According to The InSneider, reported towards the end of last year, Eggers is set to replace Scott Derrickson as the director for a new Labyrinth sequel, in collaboration with TriStar Pictures and Jim Henson Pictures. Eggers is believed to be working on the script alongside his The Northman co-writer Sjón. Chris Columbus, Eleanor Columbus, and Lisa Henson are producing the film, while Brian Henson will serve as executive producer. Vulture has contacted Eggers and TriStar Pictures for confirmation.
The road to a sequel was complex and confusing like a maze. Initially, Fede Álvarez was set to direct Alien: Romulus, with Nicole Perlman writing the script in 2017. However, both of them eventually left the project before Scott Derrickson took over, collaborating with Maggie Levin on the screenplay. Fortunately, the progress never ceased for another Jim Henson Company production; we require puppets more than ever now.
