Richard E. Grant, Felicity Jones, Amir El-Masry Join Charli XCX, Nicholas Galitzine in ‘100 Nights of Hero’ Graphic Novel Adaptation

As a seasoned movie enthusiast with a penchant for stories that delve into the complexities of human emotions and relationships, I am thoroughly intrigued by the forthcoming film “100 Nights Of Hero.” The eclectic ensemble cast, led by the talented Richard E. Grant, Amir El-Masry, and Felicity Jones, promises a captivating tale set in an alternate world under the rule of the ominous Birdman.

Actors Richard E. Grant (“Saltburn”), Amir El-Masry (“In Camera”), and Felicity Jones (“The Brutalist”) have been added to the cast of “100 Nights Of Hero,” the film adaptation of a feminist fairytale graphic novel directed by Julia Jackman, along with Nicholas Galitzine, Emma Corrin, Maika Monroe, and Charli XCX who were previously announced.

Grant S. Johnson, commonly known as “May December” from Project Infinity, is now teaming up with Helen Simmons and Stephanie Aspin as producers. Additionally, Piecrust Pictures, led by Jones, will serve as the project’s executive producer.

In an intriguing twist of reality, I found myself immersed in a captivating tale that unfolds in a world under the iron fist of the tyrannical Birdman. The story revolves around a daring wager between two companions: Manfred challenges Jerome that he can win over Jerome’s wife, Cherry, within 100 nights. If successful, Manfred would claim Jerome’s castle and wealth, while poor Cherry would pay the ultimate price with her life. As Jerome departs, anguished Cherry finds herself ensnared in a secluded castle, grappling with her feelings for her husband’s enigmatic friend and her unwavering faith in her loyal maid, Hero, whose doubts about Manfred deepen day by day. With time swiftly running out, passions ignite, weaving a complex love triangle fraught with life-threatening consequences.

I was thrilled when given the chance to bring “The One Hundred Nights of Hero,” a graphic novel I’ve cherished since 2016, to life on the big screen for the first time. Before the pandemic, I acquired the rights and have been eagerly working to create a unique cinematic world around its characters, Manfred, Cherry, and Hero. People who have read the book may not know the entire story yet, but I can’t wait for everyone to discover what we’ve created!

Completing the cast, assembled by casting director Olivia Grant, are Safia Oakley-Green (“Out of Darkness”), Christopher Fairbank (“Lady Macbeth”), Tom Stourton (“All My Friends Hate Me”), Jeff Mirza (“Juice”), Olivia D’lima (“The Killing Kind”), Kerena Jagpal (“3 Body Problem”), Markella Kavenagh (“Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”), Clare Perkins (“Medusa Deluxe”), Josh Cowdery (“Wrath of Man”) and Varada Sethu (“Doctor Who”).

Jones stated that before ‘100 Nights of Hero’, he hadn’t encountered a project since ‘Euphoria’ that resonated so deeply with the emerging wave of filmmakers, talent, and content. Despite being presented as a period drama, it is actually contemporary in its themes. This project is unique in that it will appeal to all demographics authentically and sincerely. I am privileged to collaborate with these creative minds on a film that could define a generation, while also upholding my commitment to backing female-led productions.

Simmons and Aspin expressed their excitement: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be turning Isabel Greenberg’s enchanting graphic novel into reality with the perfect team! Julia Jackman has created an utterly captivating world that is both whimsical and magical, and we can hardly believe our luck to have such a talented cast on board. We think audiences are in for a real treat!

WME Independent is overseeing global distribution for the movie, while CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group are jointly managing domestic sales in North America.
