During the State of Play presentation on February 12th, 2025, Housemarque, a first-party studio for PlayStation, astonished fans by unveiling a new project. This Finnish developer showcased a captivating trailer for their upcoming intellectual property, continuing their acclaimed approach to game development that focuses on “immersive third-person action and intriguing narrative.
Based on the achievement of Returnal, Housemarque unveiled their next project, SAROS – an action-packed game set for launch. The developers have promised a more comprehensive look at SAROS in a future reveal, scheduled this year. However, enthusiasts will need to be patient before getting their hands on Housemarque’s upcoming title as it is currently slated for release in 2026.
Housemarque’s upcoming game, SAROS, was unveiled in a captivating cinematic trailer during the PlayStation State of Play broadcast. Further insights about SAROS were shared by the studio’s Creative Director, Gregory Louden, on the PlayStation Blog. In this game, players delve into the chilling narrative of a distant colony on Carcosa, shrouded under a foreboding eclipse, as seen through the perspective of the protagonist, Arjun Devraj.
We at Housemarque are thrilled to announce SAROS.
Come back stronger.

The protagonist embarks on a challenging journey, seeking something specific, although its nature remains undisclosed at this point. Louden clarifies that the primary objective of SAROS in the studio is to craft an impactful and emotionally resonant character study, focusing on the sacrifices required to establish a fresh beginning.
In the “misplaced space colony,” the main character isn’t by himself; numerous dangers are determined to obstruct Arjun in his quest for what he seeks. As stated by Louden, this sets SAROS apart from Returnal, where permanent resources and progress ensure that every death has significance.
Following every demise, you’ll encounter a transformed reality, but in Saros, you will have the power to select and permanently enhance your equipment from an ever-growing collection of weapons and suit improvements to return even mightier to tackle the difficulties on Carcosa, as Louden explained. It’s important to note that players must endure the wait until 2026 for the game’s debut, which will initially be available only on PlayStation 5 consoles, including the PS5 Pro. More specifics are set to unfold in the upcoming months.
