Resident Evil Requiem Review Score Roundup – Is Requiem worth it?

The newest Resident Evil game is getting rave reviews from both critics and players. It currently boasts a 9.5 user score on Metacritic, making it the highest-rated game on the site alongside Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

If you enjoyed the Resident Evil 4 remake, you’ll likely have fun with this game. It’s also great to be fighting zombies again in a main Resident Evil game, after the last two focused on werewolves, vampires, and the Molded.

Requiem has really interesting gameplay and takes place in some fantastic environments. The Care Center is a standout location, easily one of the best in the game. My only wish is that it – and the later areas – were a little more extensive, as I didn’t enjoy exploring the end-game locations quite as much.

The game features some great mechanics, like seamlessly switching between first- and third-person views. The new Requiem gun is really fun to use, and the game strikes a good balance between scary moments and action. I especially like the new Hemolytic Injector, and it’s convenient that Leon can now repair his axe instead of constantly searching for new knives.

The game has some mysteries that don’t immediately add up, and it feels like the story might be changed later on – perhaps in a future game like a Resident Evil 5 Remake. However, the Resident Evil series has always been strongest when it comes to how it plays.
