Red Dead Redemption 2 Spider Mystery Unravels 7 Years After Release

Red Dead Redemption 2 stands out for its incredibly large and detailed open world, which keeps players captivated by its side stories, memorable characters, and enduring mysteries.

Even now, years after the game first came out, people are still talking about some of its biggest mysteries. Players debate whether the incredibly rare, supposedly uncatchable channel catfish is truly impossible to find—or if someone just hasn’t discovered the trick yet. They also wonder if the mysterious character Gavin is real, and if Princess Isabeau Katharina Zinsmeister is still hidden somewhere on the map.

It seems Rockstar Games, the creators of this popular game, still has surprises in store! A new mystery has recently been discovered, which is amazing considering the game has been out for around seven years and fans have been exploring it extensively.

A Trail of Spider Symbols in Red Dead Redemption 2 Brings New Mystery

A fascinating discovery has been made in Red Dead Redemption 2. Players have found that following a specific route causes spider webs and carved poles to mysteriously appear. The community is now intensely investigating what this could be – an easter egg, or something more significant that somehow went unnoticed for years.

The initial reports of this mystery came from online forum users Pariah87, u/FL4VA-01, and goldenplaysterraria. However, it was YouTuber The Strange Man who thoroughly investigated and explained the surprising discovery in a detailed video.

His research revealed a strange spider symbol carved into a telegraph pole in the middle of New Hanover. Right above the carving, a spiderweb decorated with feathers appears only between 3:00 AM and 4:00 AM.

Okay, so things get really interesting when I put the spider symbol over the game map. It’s kinda creepy, but its legs line up perfectly with eight other telegraph poles. And get this – each one has a spiderweb that appears and disappears, and you can actually shoot a feather off of them! It’s a weird detail, but it definitely grabbed my attention.

Right above the carving, a spider web decorated with feathers appears only between 3:00 and 4:00 AM.

And there’s more to discover! Right in the middle of the spider pattern on the map, players can find a larger, ninth spider web that appears between 1:00 AM and 2:00 AM. From a specific viewpoint, the web clearly forms the letter “N”, leading players to think it indicates a direction – North.

Following the “North” clue leads to a new pole with a carving of the letter “W” and five symbols. This is when players began to suspect they’d found something significant – Rockstar Games rarely includes details without a larger purpose, so it quickly became clear this wasn’t just a random easter egg.

If you follow the “West” trail, you’ll come to five poles lined up. Shooting the last pole reveals a carving with “NW” and a guitar. Going Northwest then takes you to Fort Wallace, where you can find several guitars. One of them is positioned to point the way to a place called Dodd’s Bluff.

The trail currently stops at a dead end, and players are split on what it means. Some think the trail’s name, “Dodd’s Bluff,” is a joke – a hint that Rockstar Games intentionally created a misleading path. Others believe the “bluff” is a clue, suggesting a bigger mystery is still waiting to be discovered.

No matter what this means, it just solidifies why I think Red Dead Redemption 2 is a true masterpiece and one of the best games ever made. It’s these little, intriguing details that get players talking and coming up with theories, showing there’s still so much to discover in the game’s world.
