Rebecca Ferguson’s Apple TV+ Hard Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Silo’ Suffers Major Setback on Streaming Ahead of Season 3

As a sci-fi fan, I was completely hooked by Silo when it premiered on Apple TV+ in 2023. Based on Hugh Howey’s popular books, this post-apocalyptic series quickly gained a dedicated following – and for good reason! We’ve had two fantastic seasons so far, and both critics and viewers are eagerly anticipating Season 3, which is currently slated for 2026. However, it’s a bit disheartening to report that the show has recently taken a noticeable dip in the streaming charts, which is a worrying sign ahead of the long-awaited premiere.

Since its second season came out in late 2024, Silo has consistently been popular on Apple TV+. It quickly reached the top of the streaming charts and stayed in the Top 10 even after the season finale in January 2025. While shows like new seasons of Slow Horses, Shrinking, The Morning Show, and the sci-fi hit Severance occasionally took the number one spot, Silo remained a strong performer. Surprisingly, Silo has now fallen off the Apple TV+ chart completely. The latest season of Hijack is currently at the top, and the Top 10 also includes shows with smaller audiences, such as the thriller Tehran and the French series Drops of God.

I was completely hooked by this show! It takes place after something terrible has happened, and the last people on Earth live in these huge underground bunkers. It’s a grim world, and the punishment for serious crimes is being sent outside to see if the planet is survivable. But the latest person sent up there uncovered a massive secret that everyone inside was hiding! Rebecca Ferguson is incredible as Juliette Nichols, an engineer who gets pulled into all of this against her will. The supporting cast is amazing too – you’ve got Steve Zahn, Rashida Jones, Tim Robbins, and so many other talented actors. It’s a real thriller!

Could Dwindling Interest Impact the Show’s Future?

While it’s not ideal that Silo has dropped out of Apple TV+’s top 10, cancellation would be a much bigger problem for fans. Apple TV+ doesn’t have as many shows and movies as other streaming services like Netflix or Prime Video, so popular series like Ted Lasso and Severance tend to stay on the charts for a long time. This means a drop in the rankings could affect how long Silo remains on the platform.

It’s common for new, popular shows to quickly rise to the top of the charts. However, the fact that Silo recently fell out of the Top 10, while lesser-known shows like Drops of God stayed on the list, might be a bad sign for its future. The third season has already been filmed and should be released this year, though we don’t know exactly when. Whether Season 3 can regain the number one spot will likely be a key factor in Apple’s decision about renewing Silo for a fourth season.
