Razer’s New Holographic AI Assistant Sits On Your Desk And Promises Help, Not Judgement

This week’s Consumer Electronics Show 2026 featured a lot of exciting tech, but Razer’s Project Ava is definitely one of the most unusual. It’s an AI-powered device designed to be a desktop companion that appears as a 3D hologram. Razer says it will have different animated personalities you can choose from, and one will even be modeled after the famous League of Legends player, Faker.

Razer says Ava uses advanced vision and audio to understand what’s happening around you, almost like a person. It can chat with you, help with work, and even encourage you to take care of yourself. Ava can also assist with tasks through conversations, and when you’re gaming, it can play different roles and provide exciting, real-time reactions.

Beyond the core personality, Ava combines the calm intelligence of HAL 9000 with the iconic look of the original Xbox startup screen. Kira is designed as an anime-style companion, Zane acts like a helpful friend during gaming sessions, and Sao appears ready for a professional workday. Razer explains these characters are displayed as a 5.5-inch hologram, brought to life with realistic movements, eye tracking, and facial expressions to make interactions feel natural.

Currently, Project Ava runs on xAI’s Grok AI, though Razer plans to make it work with other popular AI platforms soon. As you’d expect from a Razer product, it also features cool design elements like dual microphones that pick up sound from a distance, a high-definition camera with a light sensor, and customizable RGB lighting.

Project Ava is a device for Windows users that connects directly to a computer with a USB-C cable for fast data transfer. Razer plans to release it in the second half of 2026, though the price isn’t available yet.
